View from the Ranges

Some thoughts this morning ’bout WAR,as “we” are about to plunge into this ghastly and stupifying mess in Iraq.I cant really get excited about it. Friends and colleagues are all talking it up as though there had never been one!! I keep thinking of how little we know about Bougainville, right on our doorstep,and the war that was waged there for 12 years. We know more about Iraq and what it is to be a person from that country. Little do we know about those countries to our north for whom Australia remains the region’s superpower.East Timor, West Papua, The Solomons…the same.
Reflecting on early work. Gee my Bali work (of the 80’s) would be a most special and important work to show RIGHT NOW. Who though, has the vision??

I went to an expensive house and saw a whole bunch of bad photography, especially P.Piccinini who represents Australia at the Venice Biennle this year In the same week of this latest cutting edge art export (”Stem cell research could be bad”) courageous Christopher Reeve is begging government to carry out more stem cell research, the only hope for so many physically handicapped people.Incredible.
And me? I’m more and more interested in QUALITY not innovation.Hope to have some images up soon.
