My first morning back in Australia where I write my final post from Bougainville. Got in at 9.30 last nite, after a day with Ken R,Elsie and Brother Pat, taking in the sites of Port Moresby. Many thanks to them. Met at the airport by Rommy, Frew and Willy. Its COLD in Mittagong, but NO SWEAT!!
Hard to leave Ieta Village. It feels so far away..it IS far away.I will be back to Bougainville. Must photograph UPI and “The Man Who Speaks To Dolphins”..much still to do.
Now I must re-organize the mess I left 4 months ago! Pictures from above..Xavier, Tina Tuna and Tor, Ieta Village rascals all. Carolus (my wonderfull host) strums up a song about AIDS, the kids next door, and finally the sun setting over Buka passage taken from the backyard. LUKIM YU AGAIN TRU..
Some scenes from Ieta Village where I stay.Included above (in the canoe) are Glen, Xavier (front) and little Tora (back), Talmetz with her coconut shampoo and “buai”, and thats little Audy flying high.Much speculation in Ieta as I write, all awaiting the “avenging” raiding party from the crooked chief. When that will happen is any ones guess (there have been 2 false alarms already) Everyone is safe guarding their pocessions. Lukim yu.
